I woke up today to my sister urging me to try making macarons again. so this time I went about making them with the easier technique, the french meringue method. I think I will always stick to this method, it’s just so much more simple. anyway, because my dried apples I had prepared the other day had gotten to be too sour, I decided to make those salted caramel apple macs another day and instead made a raspberry mascarpone filling (recipe courtesy of tartlette). also, the couple tablespoons of graham crackers that went in the batter inspired me to make a nutella/marshmallow filling, to mimic a s’more! enjoy.
the lighting isn’t great, but at least you can see the cute little feet the macarons get when made right. well, these feet are a bit too big and puffed up, but the taste is always good no matter what they look like. I can’t wait to eat them tomorrow!
it’s already my last week of break! soon I’ll be back to eating dorm food and waking up at 7am and being a college kid. I must make the most of this week.
monday: isaac came over and we were about to watch tangled at metropointe, but instead went to eat sushi during happy hour at kabuki with josh sharon and michael. nomnomnom. now we’re gonna bum it at home and watch a film on my mac.
he also helped me peel and core apples for my baking day with katie tomorrow! salted caramel macarons with dried apple pieces. YUM.
"life is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re gonna get." SO TRUE I dread the disappointment of biting into a piece of chocolate and finding out I don’t like what’s inside. I just bit into a nice heart-shaped chocolate, hoping for some creamy filling to melt in my mouth, but it was just pure chocolate. :|
to end this post, I’ll leave you with some new pictures from today. I guess I’ll try to end each post with a couple pictures for you to (hopefully) enjoy. (: these were taken with the wide angle & close up lens.
so today I played with my new lenses, and it was a bit harder than I thought. just getting the adapter on and off the lenses took a lot of work. I still have so much to learn about how to use these lenses, and I’m so excited to use them on my diana+ and get photos developed. for now, here are my very few successful pictures from tonight. some have been processed.
telephoto lens. lights.
telephoto lens. christmas tree star & lights.
fisheye lens. sharon and michael. (the fisheye effect isn’t as present in these digital photos as it would be if it were taken with the diana camera.)
fisheye lens. colbie.
this is pretty much what I’ll be doing this week. I hope everybody had a wonderful christmas!
merry christmas, world!
I write to you as I lay on my bed, about to knock out. I can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and open presents — I guess I’ll always be a kid at heart.
tomorrow’s plan is basically watching the kajillion nba games. (GO LAKERS. I LOVE YOUU!!!) and perhaps I’ll bake something yummy to munch on while we’re at it.
it doesn’t really feel like christmas. so many things were going on…and it’s hard to grasp onto the cheerful, holiday spirit when a not-so-cheerful cloud is straight chillin’ above our house. go away. and do not come again another day!
well, until then, have a fantabulous, laker-lovin’ christmas. au revoir!
it hurts to know that you have these pre-conceived notions that blind you from looking past the facts. there’s more to a person than money, their appearance, or whether or not they can stand up straight and tall and be a “man.” it surprises me how ignorant you can be, to say a thing that degrades someone so much. we were all nothing when we were born. helpless, infantile. it doesn’t mean that we will always be that way. maybe it just takes some people longer than others to figure it out.
it’s funny, even putting “untitled” is giving it a title. like nothing can’t ever really be nothing. there is nothing is simple. complexity is difficulty. it’s unfair. why can’t I just have this?
the rain isn’t so bad anymore. today the sun was shining so bright, as if it were saying, “did you miss me?” well, I, for one, do not miss the rays glaring into my eyes when I have to drive. in any case, this winter has been pleasant and mostly uneventful. but it’s nice that way. not having to do anything at all except wake up at eleven every morning, feeling a good night’s rest. hm. I’m still hunting for some simple black boots that aren’t priced over my own weight…
watching madmen makes me wish I was born in that decade, where all the ladies always looked so put together. they make it look so easy.
wednesday night was a nice get together with high school friends. hawaiian food, video games, poker, white elephant gift exchange, and a couple “friendly” games of mafia. (: I wonder how long we are going to keep up with these get togethers. one by one, we are going to discover our own lives and go our separate ways, until I will be the only one left…haha, I’m kidding. but before that really does happen, I hope we make many more memories together. (:
on that note, I want to say good-bye to JIN HONG, who is moving to riverside. :( you were always my favorite awkward friend, hahah. you’d better come visit once in a while, and I’m sorry for ditching you at UR! goodbye my fellow korean friend! :/
well, I promise you guys that I will bring more interesting thoughts and photos soon. I know, as of now I am boring you to death.
